Free Youth Clinics at College Nationals!

Madison Ultimate Frisbee Association (MUFA) and Midwest Ultimate are teaming up with USAU to offer two Learn to Play Clinics for ages 7-16 during Saturday and Sunday of the College National Championships right here in Madison, Wisconsin. The clinics will be held at Redden Fields, site of pool play games, on Saturday (10am), and at Memorial High School, site of the semi-final and finals games, on Sunday (1045am). This will be a great opportunity to introduce the game to the youngsters in the area and it's free! For more information and to register visit Midwest Ultimate.

Skills Clinic + Hat Tournament in Madison (Oct. 8-9, 2011)

We would like to formally invite you to Madison Club’s second ultimate frisbee skills clinic this year. The event is $10/person and will be held at the Stoner Prairie Fields in Madison, WI the weekend of October 8-9. If you’re in high school, come out and play with us for free!

Wisconsin’s premier open club ultimate frisbee team is looking to share their ultimate experience with players of all ages. We have a phenomenal cast of people who are excited to teach you new approaches to the game, answer questions about ultimate (including rules clarification), and offer input to skills you may already be developing.

On Saturday, the skills clinic will be held from 12:30pm until 4:30pm. The clinic portion of the weekend will consist of four skills sessions with a variety of focii: defense/marking, cutting, disc movement (handler/cutter), and throwing. At each of these four sessions, you will have the option of learning more about a skill at a fundamental or advanced level (example: Throwing station. Fundamental = flick. Advanced = flick huck, etc). After the clinic portion, there will be two hours of scrimmaging where you'll be able to utilize the skills you'll learn. The scrimmaging will take place from 4:30pm to 6:30pm

On Sunday, there will be a hat tournament. The purpose of this tournament is two-fold: practice the skills you learned at the clinic and play with players both from Madison and around the state. If you want to make sure that you get to play with your friends, you will have the option of having one "baggage" player (you and a friend can choose to play together throughout the duration of the weekend). If you only wish to play at the hat tournament, the cost stands at $10/person.

2011 Primer a success!

On Saturday June 25th, MCU hosted its first ever clinic and we were amazed at the turnout, interest, enthusiasm and response showed by the Madison Ultimate Community. The Summer 2011 Skills and Drills Primer was a medium to advanced level, in-depth, community wide clinic, designed to improve participant’s Ultimate skills and teach the tools for competing at a higher level. The format included four 45 minute skill stations, a rules Q&A session and a final round-robin championship tournament, won by Team Ireland. MCU 2011 Summer Skills and Drills Primer!

Madison Club Ultimate is excited to announce the Summer 2011 Skills and Drills Primer! The Primer is a FREE medium to advanced level, in-depth, community wide clinic, featuring players and coaches from Madison’s own Madison Club Ultimate, designed to improve participant’s Ultimate skills and teach the tools for competing at a higher level.

The Primer will take place on Saturday, June 25^th from 10am to 4pm at the Recreational Sports Fields, on the campus of UW-Madison, and is open to all ages and abilities with at least a basic understanding and some experience with the sport of Ultimate. This includes and is open to middle school and high school players, girls and boys, MUFA players and anyone with a desire to improve their Ultimate game. All are welcome and encouraged to participate!

Over the course of the Skills and Drills Primer, players will divide into matching ability groups to develop specific ultimate skills, learn different strategies and nuances of the game, receive one-on-one insight from MCU players, and team up with others to showcase their talent in full-field scrimmages. Other topics to be discussed include rules and Spirit of the Game, team dynamics and leadership, conditioning and training, and program/team building. The Primer will also include prizes, give-aways and other fun-filled activities and is intended to be an overall enjoyable, educational, exciting and worthwhile experience for everyone involved.

A detailed schedule of events and informational packet will be emailed to participants one week prior to the Primer, though on the day of the Primer, please arrive between 9am and 10am to pay (if needed), check-in, general Q&A and individual warm-up. Attendees must sign a waiver (to be sent to you via email or available day of) signed by either participant or parent/guardian. PLEASE DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PRIMER WITHOUT A SIGNED WAIVER. Bring your favorite light and dark shirt, a small lunch, some water and a positive attitude. We'll take care of the rest!
